After democracy is restored, Sheikh Hasina will return to Bangladesh; Pakistan's ISI is causing unrest: Sajeeb, Hasina's son

Kolkata, August 8 (PTI): Sheikh Hasina, who resigned as prime minister and left Bangladesh, will return to her homeland as soon as democracy is reinstated, according to his son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who made the accusation on Thursday that Pakistan’s intelligence service, ISI, is to blame for the nation’s ongoing instability.

Additionally, he declared that the Sheikh Mujib (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) family will not desert its people or the struggling Awami League.

In addition to thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his administration for defending his mother, he made an appeal to India to support the formation of global opinion and apply pressure to bring democracy back to Bangladesh.

It is accurate to say that I had promised she would not go back to Bangladesh. But after constant attacks on our leaders and party employees around the nation for the past two days, a lot has changed. We will now stop at nothing to ensure the safety of our people; we will not abandon them.”

Joy accused Pakistan of instigating the turmoil in Bangladesh, citing indirect evidence of foreign meddling and the purported participation of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency.
“Given the circumstantial evidence, I have little doubt that Pakistan’s ISI is involved. The demonstrations and attacks were well-planned, well-coordinated, and deliberate attempts to continue escalating the conflict on social media. He said, “The government kept trying to make things worse, no matter what they did to control it.”

Additionally, he made note of the fact that the protesters used guns—which could only have come from foreign powers and terror groups—to attack the police.

Regarding rumors that a US spy agency such as the CIA was involved, Joy stated he did not have any proof but that “maybe, they are.” When questioned about it, he denied any Chinese involvement.

Joy said allegations that Hasina was seeking asylum in the UK or any other country “rumours,” adding that there is no truth to the claims that her US visa was withdrawn.
“This kind of stuff (seeking refuge) has not been planned.” Bangladesh’s democracy must be restored eventually, and ideally that will involve the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Awami League. Sheikh Hasina will thereafter return.”

She wants to return to Bangladesh at this time. He hinted that the former prime minister of Bangladesh will be temporarily residing in a secret place in India when he added, “It is a question of when rather than if.”

Joy, who studied in India for a large portion of his childhood, pleaded with the Indian government to see to it that democracy is swiftly restored for regional stability.

I express my gratitude to the Indian government for safeguarding my mother. My sincere appreciation goes out to Prime Minister Modi. India must exert pressure on the international community and take the initiative to secure the prompt restoration of democracy if it hopes to have stability in its eastern backyard,” the speaker stated.

“The anti-India forces are already highly active, and with the Awami League out of office, the ISI is now free to supply the anti-India forces with as many weapons as it wants,” he claimed, speaking about the ‘INDIA-out’ campaign in Bangladesh.

Joy stated that before anti-Indian groups gain greater ground, India must move quickly. He denied rumors that Hasina fled to save her own life and stated that the family demanded an end to the violence.

“She had no intention of leaving the nation. The Prime Minister’s protection team was prepared to keep her safe through it all. However, that would have resulted in hundreds of demonstrators who were heading towards the PM’s house dying. We persuaded her that we could not allow her to be slaughtered for the benefit of Bangladesh,” he remarked.

“My mother did not want to hurt the students, but our government was not weak either. The slaughter has continued even after she left the nation. Now that Sheikh Hasina is gone, the public will recognize the differences,” he remarked.

After 29 more members of Hasina’s Awami League party were found dead around the nation through Tuesday, the total number of those killed in Bangladesh’s anti-government protests rose to 440 on Wednesday. The protests have been going on for almost three weeks now, since July. PTI PNT PYK

Calling the Awami League a “all-weather ally of India,” he stated that by increasing international pressure, India must guarantee the safety of Awami League leaders in Bangladesh.

Restoring peace and order is another thing Joy encouraged the Mohammad Yunus-led interim administration to do, pointing out that “the country is turning into a state of anarchy and becoming a second Afghanistan in the region.”

In addition, he expressed his expectation that the interim administration would establish fair and impartial elections in the event that democracy is reinstated.

“The Awami League cannot be excluded from Bangladesh and representative democracy can never exist there. Regardless of his personal opinions, Muhammad Yunus has stated that he wants a government that is united and that moves on without letting the mistakes of the past impede the way it goes forward. I hope he honors his promise,” he said.

At a ceremony in Dhaka on Thursday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin gave Prof. Yunus the oath of office as the leader of Bangladesh’s temporary administration.

Following violent protests against her government over a contentious job quota scheme, Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the nation. On Monday, she took a military aircraft from Bangladesh to the Hindon air base, which is close to Delhi.

Joy stated that “the Mujib family and Sheikh Hasina would be around” and that “either the Awami League or BNP will come to power if democracy is restored.”

“She has spent the last two days communicating with every leader in our party. We assumed that since my mother would shortly be retiring, the rioters would leave our partygoers alone, but that did not happen. Rather, they launched an assault,” he remarked.

Refusing to address whether he and his sister Saima Wazed, the World Health Organization’s regional director for South East Asia, would go into politics, Joy declared he would stop at nothing to keep Bangladesh from falling into complete chaos.

“I am not sure how to respond to this question definitively. However, I will go to all lengths to save the Awami League and rescue Bangladesh. According to Joy, Hasina’s former advisor on information and communication technology, “The Mujib family would not abandon them.”
